Centuries after Shakyamuni’s Buddha death, the 2nd Buddhist Council was held at Vaishali, India, which was the birth of Mahayana Buddhism. A group called Mahasanghika gradually formed and became the great congregation, which evolved into the Buddhist school of Mahayana (Great Vehicle). The early tenants included the Bodhisattva Path, a new cosmology, of visualization practices, and a new perspective on Adhidharma. This emphasis evolved into the contemporary values of compassion, faith, and wisdom. This course deals with this evolution and explains the essence of Mahayana Buddhism. We invite you to the Bodhisattva path, let’s get on the Great Vehicle to learn together.
